Agreed Harold. What this means is that Harry Reid doesn't know how to articulate this issue without sticking his foot in his mouth. I daresay that many white men of his age are the same way, whether they are racist or not, Republican or Democrat. This, to me, seems to be a blunder of language and syntax, instead of intent. Therefore, it seems to be more forgivable than words said by others, that are clearly NOT blunders, and are INTENDED to hurt. For example:

There's a clear difference in what Limbaugh has said, and what Reid has said. They're MILES apart in intent, and meaning. One is intended to hurt, the other is clumsily pointing out a sad fact of race relations in the USA.

There are far more states (22+) than Texas who are poised to invoke the 10th Amendment when health care reform is made in to federal law.

When a state takes that step, it, in effect, renders those of us who do not agree, without federal citizenship. The only recourse then, is to push for the 14th Amendment as citizens in Minnesota have done in a recent recall move of their governor, Pawlenty.

There is a balance to be struck between the safety gains from profiling and the alienation of law abiding Muslims by subjecting them to humiliating, racially targeted searches.

Here in the UK we have a problem with 'home grown' terrorists - young men (usually) who feel alienated by society and are preyed upon by the true radicals (who are never in the front line themselves). Profiling will create second class citizens and push more people into the arms of the real terrorists.

If for every bomber we stop by profiling we create ten new ones, we will lose this war. Intelligence led searches are our best bet - if we make sure that all the intelligence available is used. That, and public resilience when it comes to attacks.

Terrorists can only win if we capitulate to them, or react in such a way that it furthers their aims by alienating more Muslims against the West. The spirit of the American and British people is such, G-d willing, that that will not happen.

Well Harold, Liberals said the same thing about Iraq and the surge there- it is unwinnable. Well, Iraq is stabilized, the surged worked. In Afghanistan- we MUST win, we must not allow Al-Qaeda to re-establish itself there, which is precisely what will happen if the Taliban regains control. I have faith in your brothers and sisters in the military to finish the job.

On health-care, we need a bill that will bring down the cost, not cost the taxpayer any more money, and not put the government in charge of our health decisions. This bill does not accomplish that, in fact does the opposite. It also would imprison people who do not buy healthcare, or pay the tax penalty for not having it. I hope it is dead for good, but we'll see.

That being said, Thank you for your service, I am glad to see you made it safely through your tenure. Welcome Back. Have a blessed Christmas. God bless the US armed servicepeople, and God Bless the USA.

Allow me to share a conservatives view with you on your observations to these questions.

1. First of all thank you for your service to our country. Second, if you think that the wars are illegitimate, why do you stay in the military?

2. Define "sizeable profit" for the insurance industry. I don't have a problem with my insurance or the company making money.

3. I believe in science, evolution being a part of that, and I oppose cap and trade, besides global warming and cooling are natural occurrences.

5. Are you suggesting that all conservatives are racists? Besides racists come in all ideologies. I consider them to be extremist and mainly nuts.

6. Either all in or get out. You as a soldier should understand that.

8.Marriage should be a state issue and no state should be forced to accept the ideas of another. I fail to see your argument about how this is the biggest threat to the 14th amendment.

9. Answer to liberal: Veterans are a small percentage of the total population. Besides, do you really think that military hospitals are that great? I didn't when I spent time in one.

10. Your comment is a gross oversimplification and standard liberal BS.

Personally I think that the RNC asking these questions of potential candidates is quite humorous.

I think that all the twittering and calling needs to be directed towards the White House in order to prod him into a more decisive mode. He is still popular enough to sway action and opinion, and the force of his ability at communicating to the public would do wonders at this critical time.

I agree. It is now time for Obama to step up to the plate and deliver. Rather than accommodating the right with half-measures and assurances that they can still keep what they have, he should be forcefully persuading them that he is going to do the right thing on this issue whether they agree or not; because if is a fundamental issue of public security.
